I had the fortune of bumping into your father once in NY and he was gracious enough to spend a few minutes with a gushing fan. I last saw your dad and Ornette together at the Orpehum Theater in LA many years back when the original quartet came back together. Unfortunately Cherry was ill that night, but that show will live forever in my memory. As will a show that was just your Dad and Cherry doing solos and duets in a church in Santa Barbara.

I also saw the Treacherous Jaywalkers in a gig at McCabes. I believe the show was billed as a Trio of Trios. Your Dad's trio, your band and Mike Watt's, Firehose. I indeed have been blessed with the music of Ornette's world, and your Dad's great part in it. I have yet to see Spain, but listen often. Please share my thoughts with your family and Ornette's as well.

Peace,

Bill ThompsonBill Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08579287748255084536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216902621434639270.post-11086456548388294082013-02-23T01:38:50.516-08:002013-02-23T01:38:50.516-08:00I always like your blog post because you always co...I always like your blog post because you always comes with different ideas and information. Back then, I taped a few of KNON's rock shows and listened to them years later. An extension just makes things worse. You will see an immediate reduction in unemployment when these benefits run out. It is the same as the welfare mentality. If the government is willing to give me enough money to live on, why should I have to work? It's going to be tough for some, but in the long run it will help eliminate this entitlement mentality, just as it did with welfare. The government could also require recipients to work on government jobs while getting payments - at least they would not be idle just collecting my grandchildren's future tax contributions to help pay off this ever increasing deficit.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216902621434639270.post-39448540436085588662010-02-26T15:59:49.495-08:002010-02-26T15:59:49.495-08:00hi josh , i know your work very well since the alb...hi josh , i know your work very well since the album the blue moods of spain.
please consider coming up to Portugal one of this days ok?
Keep up the good work
greetings from Lisbon ;)Hugo Tavareshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03296058738346019930noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216902621434639270.post-8029261036292989662010-01-21T08:20:24.487-08:002010-01-21T08:20:24.487-08:00Josh,

If you missed the deadline, that is your breach of contract, not theirs.

2. Same goes with you posting the pending songs online anywhere. Think about it - if you were a label owner who agreed to release a band's new song, I'm sure you would also be disheartened to hear that you, in fact, are releasing a song the band is also making available by posting all over the Internet for free. Eh compadre? If that is your philosophy, you should have told the label that beforehand, in which case the deal would probably have been off or very different. keeping this context in mind, which, wit...(cont.)

keeping this context in mind, which, with all due respect, you may have missed, and if i steered you in the wrong direction on this i apologize, but, keeping this context in mind, i'm not sure if your answer would be the same as it is here presently. i hope i've made it clear that i didn't mean for the question to labeled as "open" in the sense that it makes no preordained assumptions, which it most certainly does. the belief that man has a nature is, in all respects, a closed belief, as it by its very definition precludes any other possiblity, for example, the possiblity that man has no nature, or perhaps, there is some alternative explanation for man's behavior and beliefs.

you stated in your response, in your opinion man's nature is not essentially good or bad. but you do believe man has a nature. in your opinion, man's nature is diversity, complexity, variableness, and impressionism. without questioning the meanings of these concepts, and the relationships between them, you are quite clearly positing the fact, as you see it, that man does have a specific nature, and this positing, just as the positing that man has a nature that is good, or man has a nature that is bad, needs, as you pointed out yourself, to be based on facts, which you, for better or worse, don't provide here.

leaving this, you write that you are answering my question. i beg to differ with you. if you were to answer my question, namely, if man's nature is essentially good, then why does he need to be governed, you would, firstly, have to agree with the statement, man's nature is essentially good, and then you would tell me why, in your opinion, he needs to be governed, or that, in contrast, why, in your opinion, man doesn't need to be governed. But your answer, which i may suggest, is more of a response or opinion, is that man's nature is not essentially good, or essentially bad, for that matter. however, you go on, later in your paragraph, to say that, in actuallity, you do believe that man's nature is, after all, good, albeit in varying degrees, and bad, albeit in varying degrees. This is contradictory at best, forgive me for saying so.

also, your explanation that those whose nature is more "good" than "bad" need to be governed only to avoid some kind of jealousy on the part of those whose natures are more "bad" than "good" is spurious to me. if i were to take you seriously, then "governance", to the "more good" would be like some kind of mass illusion or inside joke that is kept from the ignorant "more bad" to keep them from the truth that, in actuallity, governance is just a big comedic gesture, and if only the "more bad" could become "more good" the need for governance in general would simply disappear!

the other thing i would like to add is that this "open question for liberals: if man's nature is essentially good, then why does he need to be governed", was meant to be read in tandem with my previous post, an "open question for conservatives: if man's nature is essentially evil, then why is it important that he have freedom?" it can be found on the page immediately preceeding the first page of my blog by clicking on "older posts" (for some reason blogger isn't letting me put the link here). perhaps this is something you weren't aware of. hopefully this information might make the intent of the present post in question more clear.

anyways, thanks again for your comment! it is much appreciated!Josh Hadenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11394792769564594072noreply@blogger.com
